Quick estimate
Latte is a 14/3mm engineered European oak floor: a 14mm-thick board made up of a 3mm solid European oak face over an 11mm multi-ply core, in 1900 x 190mm boards with a brushed, matte UV-lacquered surface and an ABC grade. Latte is a warm, natural oak with caramel and cream tones, the most neutral of the warm colours and the easiest to pair with existing furniture and timber joinery. It is part of LocalTasker's own engineered oak range: see it at any of our four Melbourne showrooms, with stock held at our Heidelberg West warehouse for pickup or delivery, supply only or supplied and installed.
14/3mm is the specification most Melbourne buyers and installers ask for by name: thick enough in the veneer to be sanded and refinished, stable enough in the core to be laid floating or glued down, and suitable for use over hydronic underfloor heating.
Oak flooring is graded by how much natural character is allowed in each board. An ABC grade mixes clean boards (A) with boards showing small knots and mild colour variation (B) and boards with larger, filled knots and more grain movement (C). The result is a floor that looks like real timber, with variation from board to board, rather than a uniform, printed-looking surface. If you prefer a cleaner, more selected look, ask us about our AB-grade herringbone range.
The 3mm oak veneer is what gives this floor its long life. Unlike a 2mm veneer, a 3mm face layer has enough depth to be sanded back and refinished if it is ever damaged or if you want to change the colour years from now. The multi-ply core beneath it keeps the 14mm board dimensionally stable through Melbourne's seasonal humidity swings, which is what allows it to be floated as well as glued down and used over underfloor heating.
Latte engineered oak suits living areas, bedrooms, hallways, studies and open-plan kitchen-living spaces. Like all timber floors it is not recommended for bathrooms, laundries or other wet areas; for those rooms we suggest a waterproof hybrid floor in a matching tone. The brushed, matte lacquer hides day-to-day scuffs better than a high-gloss finish and does not need re-coating on a schedule.
Latte is also available as a Latte herringbone engineered floor. The other colours in the 14/3mm ABC wide-board range are Bandha, French Grey, Guru Smoked Limed, Natural Smoked Oak, Warm Chestnut, Zen; see the full engineered timber flooring range.
See Latte in person and take a sample home at our showrooms in Ormond, Camberwell, Heidelberg West and Nunawading, then buy by the box online or in store. Stock is held at our Heidelberg West warehouse: collect it there, or ask our team about delivery. Each box covers approximately 2.888m²; use the area calculator and allow around 10% for cutting waste. To have it glued down or floated by our installers, tick “I would also like an installation quote” before you check out and our team will contact you with a quote for installation after your order; the work is guaranteed by both the installer and LocalTasker.
14mm is the total thickness of the board and 3mm is the thickness of the solid European oak veneer on top. The remaining 11mm is a multi-ply core that gives the board its stability.
Yes. A 3mm veneer has enough depth to be sanded back and re-coated if the floor is damaged or you want a different finish in future, which is the main advantage over a 2mm veneer.
Yes, this floor is suitable for use over hydronic underfloor heating. Your installer will confirm the heating system's surface temperature limits and the correct acclimatisation before laying.
Yes. Tick “I would also like an installation quote” on this page before checkout and our team will contact you after your order to quote the installation, including glue-down or floating as suits your subfloor.
Both are supported. Glue-down gives the most solid feel and the quietest result and is the usual choice on a concrete slab; floating over an underlay is faster and is often used over existing floors. Our installers will recommend the right method for your subfloor.
ABCD grade allows D-grade boards with larger knots, sapwood and more colour variation. ABC excludes the D boards, giving a more consistent floor while keeping the natural character of real oak.
Approximately 2.888m². Order around 10% more than your measured area to cover cuts.
