Product Description

Jarrah is a 14/3mm engineered Australian hardwood floor: a 14mm-thick board made up of a 3mm solid Jarrah face over an 11mm multi-ply core, in 1800 x 190mm boards with a smooth, matte finish and a Standard Plus grade. Jarrah is a warm red: deep reds through to burgundy that darken and richen with age and sunlight, giving a floor real presence against white walls and light joinery. It is part of LocalTasker's own engineered timber range: see it at any of our four Melbourne showrooms, supply only or supplied and installed.

Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) is a Western Australian hardwood prized for its colour and durability, and the classic choice for a traditional red-toned Australian timber floor. Engineered construction gives you the real species on the surface with a core that stays stable through Melbourne's seasonal humidity, so it can be glued down or floated and used over hydronic underfloor heating.

What Standard Plus grade means

Standard Plus is a select-to-medium grade: consistent colour with small, infrequent gum veins and knots, so the species' character shows without dominating the room.

Where it works

Jarrah suits living areas, bedrooms, hallways, studies and open-plan kitchen-living spaces, and the 3mm veneer can be sanded and refinished if it is ever damaged. Like all timber floors it is not recommended for bathrooms, laundries or other wet areas; for those rooms we suggest a waterproof hybrid floor.

Other Australian species and the European oak range

The other Australian species boards are Spotted Gum, Marri, Standard Plus Blackbutt, Rustic Blackbutt. For a lighter European oak look, see the 14/3mm engineered oak wide-board range, or browse all engineered timber flooring.

Supply only, or supplied and installed

See Jarrah in person and take a sample home at our showrooms in Ormond, Camberwell, Heidelberg West and Nunawading, then buy by the box online or in store. Stock is held at our Heidelberg West warehouse: collect it there, or ask our team about delivery. Each box covers approximately 2.736m²; use the area calculator and allow around 10% for cutting waste. To have it glued down or floated by our installers, tick “I would also like an installation quote” before you check out and our team will contact you with a quote for installation after your order; the work is guaranteed by both the installer and LocalTasker.

Frequently asked questions

Is Jarrah engineered flooring real timber?

Yes. The top 3mm is solid Jarrah hardwood; the multi-ply core beneath it is what makes the board more stable than solid timber and lets it be floated or glued.

Can it be sanded and refinished?

Yes. A 3mm veneer has enough depth to be sanded back and re-coated if the floor is damaged or you want a different finish in future.

Will the colour vary between boards?

Yes, and that is normal for Australian hardwoods. We recommend laying from several boxes at once rather than one box at a time so the variation is spread evenly across the room.

Can it go over underfloor heating?

Yes, this floor is suitable for use over hydronic underfloor heating. Your installer will confirm the system's surface temperature limits and acclimatise the boards before laying.

Can LocalTasker install it for me?

Yes. Tick “I would also like an installation quote” on this page before checkout and our team will contact you after your order to quote the installation. Installation is guaranteed by both the installer and LocalTasker.

How much does one box cover?

Approximately 2.736m²; box sizes can vary, so check the box count in your cart. Order around 10% more than your measured area to cover cuts.
