Quick estimate
Zen in this straight-plank format gives you the same colourway as our herringbone Zen in a simpler, faster-to-lay board style: a genuine 3mm European oak veneer over a 14mm engineered core, wire-brushed and finished in matte UV lacquer.
Same colourway, different lay: this is a standard straight-plank board (1900mm x 190mm x 14mm) rather than the 15/4mm parquetry pieces used for a herringbone pattern. Straight-plank is faster and generally cheaper to install than herringbone, since it doesn't need the centre-line setout and mitred ends a herringbone lay requires, a straightforward choice if you want the Zen tone without the herringbone labour cost.
The same as our other 3mm straight-plank colourways: genuine 3mm European oak veneer, 14mm engineered core, T&G profile, micro-bevel edge, wire-brushed matte finish, FSC certified, E0 formaldehyde emission, with a lifetime structural warranty and 25-year residential and 5-year commercial surface warranty.
Herringbone typically costs more to install (more cutting, more setout time, more waste factor to budget for) and reads as a more formal, feature-floor choice. Straight-plank in the same tone is the faster, lower-labour option for whole-of-house flooring where you want consistency without the herringbone price premium. Neither is better, it's a room-by-room call, and some clients use both, herringbone in an entry or living zone and straight-plank through the rest of the home, in the same Zen colourway.
Ordering straight-plank and herringbone boards from the same colourway doesn't guarantee an identical dye-lot match, since they're often milled in separate production runs. If you're planning to run both formats through connecting rooms, order samples of both and check them side by side before committing.
Available as supply-only or supply-and-install. Compare it against Guru Smoked Limed, Mudita, the herringbone Zen, the full Engineered European Oak range, professional installation.
Same colourway, different format. This is a straight-plank board (1900mm x 190mm x 14mm); the herringbone version uses smaller parquetry-style pieces laid in a chevron pattern.
Generally yes. Herringbone requires more cutting, setout time and waste allowance, which usually adds to install labour cost.
T&G (tongue and groove), typically glued or nailed rather than clicked.
