Acoustic Underlay 3mm (No Moisture Barrier) – 20m² Roll

Acoustic Underlay 3mm (No Moisture Barrier) is the underlay for floating installations of our engineered timber flooring. It cushions the boards, reduces footfall noise and is intended for timber subfloors or where a separate moisture barrier is already in place. Supplied as a 20m² roll.

Which underlay do I need?

Choose this one for engineered timber laid over a timber subfloor, or where a moisture barrier has already been laid. Our hybrid flooring does not use this underlay: every hybrid board has its acoustic underlay already attached, and hybrid on concrete uses builder's plastic as its moisture barrier instead. How many rolls

Divide your floor area by 20 and round up; allow a little extra for overlaps and cuts. If we are installing the floor, underlay is included in the installation quote.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this under hybrid flooring?

No. Hybrid boards have underlay bonded to the back and should not be laid over an additional underlay.

Do I need the moisture barrier version?

Only on a timber subfloor or where a barrier already exists. Over concrete, use the version with the built-in moisture barrier.

Is it needed for glue-down installation?

No. Underlay is for floating floors; glue-down installations use an adhesive such as Acouslime, which includes its own moisture barrier.
