Builder’s Plastic Moisture Barrier – 20m² Roll

Builder's plastic is the moisture barrier laid under hybrid flooring when it is installed over a concrete slab. It stops moisture rising from the slab into the floor. It is only for concrete substrates: it should not be used over a timber subfloor, where it would trap moisture against the timber. Supplied as a 20m² roll.

How it is used

Roll it out over the clean, dry slab with the joins overlapped and taped, then click the hybrid boards together on top. No additional underlay is needed because our hybrid boards have acoustic underlay attached. For engineered timber over concrete, use acoustic underlay with moisture barrier instead. Divide your floor area by 20 and round up, allowing extra for overlaps.

Do I need builder's plastic under hybrid flooring?

Yes when the hybrid floor is going over a concrete slab, to stop slab moisture reaching the boards. Not on a timber subfloor.

Can I use it under engineered timber?

Use an underlay with a built-in moisture barrier for floating engineered timber over concrete; for glue-down, the adhesive provides the barrier.

Is it included if LocalTasker installs the floor?
