Product Description

NSW Spotted Gum Hybrid Flooring 9mm is a 100% waterproof SPC hybrid floor with a 0.7mm wear layer, a matte finish and 2mm IXPE acoustic underlay attached. NSW Spotted Gum is styled on the spotted gum grown in New South Wales, which tends to be lighter and softer than Queensland stock: light tan browns, coffee browns and greyish tones, more uniform and with little to no red, giving a more consistent, minimalist look than our standard Spotted Gum. It comes on the 1800mm 9mm plank. It is part of LocalTasker's own hybrid range: see it at any of our four Melbourne showrooms, with stock held at our Heidelberg West warehouse for pickup or delivery.

The 9mm range is the heavy-duty option in the collection: an extra-long 1800mm plank, the thickest 0.7mm wear layer we stock and a 2mm acoustic underlay, which is why it carries the same 30-year domestic warranty with a step up in day-to-day toughness.

What you get with the 9mm range

  • 100% waterproof core. The stone-polymer composite (SPC) core does not swell or warp when wet, so this floor can run through kitchens, bathrooms and laundries as well as living areas.
  • 0.7mm wear layer, matte finish. The wear layer is the clear top coat that takes the scratches; 0.7mm is the thickest in our hybrid collection and rated for busy family homes and light commercial use.
  • Underlay already attached. 2mm IXPE acoustic underlay is bonded to each board, so there is no separate underlay to buy or lay.
  • Välinge 2G click system. Boards lock together and float over the subfloor, with no glue or nails.
  • 1800 x 228 x 9mm boards, micro-bevel edge. The micro-bevel defines each plank without collecting dirt the way a deep V-groove does.
  • Low emissions. E1 (formaldehyde free).
  • Warranty. 30 years domestic, 15 years light commercial.

Where it works

Because the core is waterproof, NSW Spotted Gum 9mm hybrid suits whole-of-home installs where the same floor runs from the entry through the kitchen and into wet areas, which is hard to do with timber or laminate. It floats over concrete slabs, existing tiles and timber subfloors provided the surface is flat, dry and sound, which makes it a common choice for renovations where lifting the old floor is not an option. It is also a practical floor for households with pets and children: the surface wipes clean and the attached underlay keeps footfall quiet.

NSW Spotted Gum in other thicknesses and patterns

The same NSW Spotted Gum colour is available as: Spotted Gum Hybrid 7mm, Spotted Gum Herringbone Hybrid.

In short: 7mm is the value option with a 0.5mm wear layer; 9mm is the heavy-duty option with a longer 1800mm plank and a 0.7mm wear layer; 10mm is the thickest and most rigid board, with the firmest feel underfoot.

Supply only, or supplied and installed

See NSW Spotted Gum 9mm hybrid in person and take a sample home at our showrooms in Ormond, Camberwell, Heidelberg West and Nunawading, then buy by the box online or in store. Stock is held at our Heidelberg West warehouse: collect it there, or ask our team about delivery. Each box covers approximately 1.232m²; use our area calculator to work out how many you need and allow about 10% extra for cutting waste. If you'd rather not lay it yourself, tick “I would also like an installation quote” before you check out and our team will contact you with a quote for installation after your order; the work is guaranteed by both the installer and LocalTasker.

Frequently asked questions

Is NSW Spotted Gum hybrid flooring waterproof?

Yes. The SPC core is 100% waterproof, so it can be installed in bathrooms, laundries and kitchens. Standing water should still be wiped up, as with any floor, to protect the joins and the subfloor beneath.

What does a 0.7mm wear layer mean?

The wear layer is the clear protective top coat. A 0.7mm wear layer is rated for residential and light commercial traffic; it is the thickest in our hybrid collection. Thicker wear layers resist scratching for longer.

Can LocalTasker install it for me?

Yes. Tick “I would also like an installation quote” on this page before checkout and our team will contact you after your order to quote the installation. Installation is guaranteed by both the installer and LocalTasker.

Do I need to buy underlay separately?

No. 2mm IXPE acoustic underlay is already bonded to the back of every board, which also improves sound absorption.

Can it be installed over my existing floor?

In most cases yes. Hybrid flooring floats over concrete, tiles and timber subfloors as long as they are flat, dry and structurally sound. Carpet must be removed. Our installers will check your subfloor before quoting.

How much does one box cover?

Approximately 1.232m² per box. We recommend ordering around 10% more than your measured floor area to cover cuts and offcuts.

Should I choose 7mm, 9mm or 10mm?

7mm is the budget-friendly option and suits most homes. 9mm has a longer plank and the thickest wear layer, so it is the pick for high-traffic homes. 10mm is the thickest and most rigid board, with the most solid feel underfoot and more tolerance for minor subfloor imperfections.
